Scottsdale Old Town Tavern Expands to Larger Venue |
Beloved Music Spot Moves Next Door to Triple Its Size |
Scottsdale's cherished Old Town Tavern is embarking on a significant transformation, relocating just 20 feet east to a more spacious venue that promises to enhance the live music experience for both patrons and performers.
For over two decades, the Old Town Tavern has been a cornerstone of Scottsdale's vibrant music scene. Known affectionately as "the biggest little stage in town," its intimate setting has fostered a close-knit community of music enthusiasts.
The decision to move stems from a combination of factors: the aging infrastructure of the current building, the landlord's decision not to renew the lease, and the growing demand for more space. Owner Paul Mitchell expressed enthusiasm about the move, stating, "We've outgrown our little corner of Scottsdale. This new space is going to let us serve more people, support more local musicians, and just keep doing what we love—only bigger."
The new location, formerly occupied by The Back Door, will expand Scottsdale's tavern footprint from 800 to 3,000 square feet. This substantial increase allows for:
Enhanced performance areas
Additional seating for guests
Improved layout for live shows
A kitchen offering simple fare like pizza and wings
Construction is already underway, with crews diligently preparing the new space. Importantly, Scottsdale's Old Town Tavern will remain open during the transition, ensuring that live music continues uninterrupted. Regular performances, including those by local favorite Jake Dean, will proceed as scheduled.
The original building holds sentimental value, having been the owners' residence before transforming into a beloved music venue two decades ago. This deep-rooted connection has contributed to the tavern's unique atmosphere and enduring popularity.
As Scottsdale invests $40 million into revitalizing Old Town, including infrastructure enhancements and new developments, the expansion of the Old Town Tavern aligns with the city's broader efforts to elevate the area's appeal. This move not only preserves the tavern's legacy but also positions it to thrive in a rapidly evolving landscape.
While some Scottsdale patrons express nostalgia for the original venue's cozy ambiance, many are excited about the opportunities the new space presents. The expansion signifies a commitment to growth while maintaining the intimate, community-focused spirit that has defined the Old Town Tavern for years.
As the tavern prepares for this new chapter, the Scottsdale community eagerly anticipates the grand reopening, ready to create new memories in a familiar, yet enhanced, setting. |
